RESPONSE OF NEW CULTIVARS OF SPRING BARLEY TO SOWING RATE
Main Article Content
Abstract
A microplot experiment with spring barley was carried out in the years 2009–
2011. The response of cultivars Conchita, Kormoran, Serwal, Skald, Victoriana,
KWS Aliciana, Bordo, Henrike, Signora and Suweren to sowing rates of 250, 350
and 450 seed per m2 was investigated. All the cultivars responsed with increase of
grain yield to the increase of sowing rate up to 450 seed per m 2 . The highest effects
were recorded for the cultivars Victoriana i Signora. The grain yield increase was
caused by an increase of the ear number per unit area. High sowing rate had a nega-
tive effect on 1000 grain weight. The cultivars Conchita, Serwal, Victoriana, KWS
Aliciana, Henrike and Signora showed significant increase of protein content in
grain with increasing sowing rate. Positive effect of high sowing rate on grain frac-
tion > 2.5 mm was found in cultivars Conchita, Serwal, Victoriana, KWS Aliciana,
Henrike and Signora
